Activity: This laboratory is equipped with facilities suitable for the measurement of ultrasonic velocity and attenuation in solids, and their variation with temperature. Presently work is going on to study the variation of the acoustic parameters near a structural transition. Development of a cw method to study samples with relatively small size is also on the way.

Facilities available: Coherent pulse/cw spectrometer, Vacuum coating unit with thickness monitor, Thermostat with temperature measurement facilities ( R.T.-500 degree Centigrade).
