Abstract | : |
The binary black hole merger, GW150914, has given us valuable information about its consistency with general relativity. With more binary black hole observations, one can potentially obtain more information about the nature of general relativity, constraints on astrophysical scenarios, and estimates of cosmological parameters. Observation of mergers involving neutron stars can give us immense insight into their hitherto unknown physics. In this talk, we will go over the key results of GW150914, and discuss the prospects of extracting fundamental physics results from subsequent gravitational-wave observations. |
