Magnetic patterns, identified as topological solitons, were observed in helimagnets on 2D plane in recent experiments [PRL\'09,Science\'09,Nature\'10]. Original idea of such Skyrmions to appear in the ferromagnetic model was however proposed way back, where the model Hamiltonian, bounded from below by topological charge Q, was shown to attain its minimum at exact Skyrme solutions, linked to an analytic function [Belavin-Polyakov: JETP\'75]. I have found an anisotropic extension of the ferromagnetic Hamiltonian, still stabilized from below by Q, allowing new exact Skyrmions of asymmetric nature linked to a beautiful geometric inequality and a generalization of analytic functions (Dbar-Neumann problem?). This result, the first known asymmetric exact topological solution in any model and potentially applicable to other such models, is simple, geometric, innovative and understandable to all. I welcome your input/criticism for confirming the novelty of the result. |
