· Students are invited to join the Ph.D. programme of SINP in Physics and Biophysical Sciences starting from January 2023. · The curriculum starts with a pre-Ph.D. course work, called Post-M.Sc. programme. · Post M.Sc. Courses are channelled through two streams: Physics and Biophysical Sciences. Session will start from January 2023. · Eligibility Experimental Physics : Master’s degree in Physics and qualified JRF in JOINT CSIR - UGC NET EXAMINATION (not LS) Openings for Ph.D. may be available in the following broad areas:
1. Condensed Matter Physics, Surface and Interface, Soft Matter Physics, Organic Semiconductors, Semiconductor materials & devices, Nanomagnetism, Spintronics, Exotic electronic structures, Spectroscopy and microscopy of nanostructures
2. Astroparticle Physics, dark matter search
3. Cold Atoms, Quantum Optics, Quantum Sensors
4. Nuclear Astrophysics, nuclear structure studies, nuclear Instrumentation, Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP), Experimental Particle Physics at ALICE & CMS, LHC data analysis, Detector physics
Biophysical Sciences : Master’s degree in Physics or Chemistry (with Life Science at 10+2 level) or Master’s degree in Life Sciences (with Chemistry and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or M.Tech. in Biotechnology (with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Life Science at 10+2 level) and qualified JRF in JOINT CSIR - UGC NET EXAMINATION (not LS)
Openings for Ph.D. may be available in the following broad areas:
1. Artificial enzymes, Computational protein design and biology, MD simulations, drug design
2. Single molecule insights into DNA-protein interactions and dynamic DNA assemblies
3. Structural exploration of mitochondrial ribosome using Cryo-EM and single-particle analysis
4. Neural cell engineering for building and understanding brain-like neural microcircuits, and Biological computers with molecular engineered cells
5. Role of RNA methylation and metabolic reprogramming in cancer, endothelial dysfunction and metabolic syndrome
6. Investigation of chromosome repositioning and dynamics, epigenetic modifications and miRNA landscapes in cardiac myopathy and cancer with emphasis on Lamins
